55 full-colour cards
from South Sea paintings
by Paul Gauguin

TAHITI’s images are an invitation to journey through fantasy to the South Seas. Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) created vivid paintings during his later life on the remote islands of Tahiti. The 55 cards of the TAHITI deck show selected images from Gauguin’s beautiful paintings.

Gauguin expressed his fascination for the South Seas culture through paintings that sought to fulfill his deep longings for beauty and original innocence. He painted scenes of daily life, the countryside, and people — mostly women. An apparent harmony that seems indigenous to paradise pervades the works. His images are rich in poetry.

As we create our own stories based on Gauguin’s motifs, our eyes are captivated by details, tantalising pieces of a greater mosaic, which we infuse and expand through our own imagination.
